Kinetic Typography: Peewee's Big Adventure

My Process
The Decision
I used Adobe Audition to capture audio segments from five movies and songs to present to the class. Peewee's Big Adventure was chosen because it could have visual impact using only audio and typography. My decision was to use two colors and two typefaces so each character had a distinct visual voice.
Objectives
1. To consider relationships among words—in space and over time—that expands an audio narrative
2. To use scale and time or pacing to establish typographic hierarchy and to convey meaning
3. To create a storyboard for planning the production
4. To use an iterative process to explore and discover ways to present an audio narrative
5. To develop a beginner's working knowledge of Adobe After Effects applied to typographic animation
Keyframes
In this phase I designed some keyframes that were representative of the style I planned to use, including colors and typefaces. I selected red for Peewee because it's the color I associate with his character. For Francis I chose the color purple. Not only does it provide contrast to the red, but purple is the color associated with royalty, which made it perfect for wealthy, pampered Francis Buxton.
